Powerful and heartbreaking. This is one of the best stories committed to film. And probably the hardest main character in a serious film ever. Such a beautiful and sad film should not be missed. This is like a Korean Shawshank Redemption, but with double the injustice, and double the emotional clout. Certainly not as uplifting as that film, but more powerful. Please see this.

Not amazing, but some of the acting and action scenes are quite good

Very disappointing. There was a good, although very predictable story building up. But by the end all you get is sadness and lack luster fights. Worst of all, the moral of this story is "You can try to better yourself, but life will kick you in the teeth, and will punish, or kill, anyone who tries to help you". A story of good versus evil with a crappy ending where everybody loses. It wouldn't have taken much to make this a great movie.
