Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?

Mediocre animation combined with a boring and convoluted plot and uninteresting characters. Really, it has very little going for it.

Singing pop star gives culture to evil male only aliens. What a plot huh? The awful love triangle, pop songs, and rigid gender roles have all aged horribly in this space opera. It is the daddy of a lot of mech and sci-fi tropes though, and is an interesting watch in that regard. The hand drawn animation varies in quality from incredibly beautiful to "oh yea this was a Saturday morning cartoon". Cool watch but the plot really keeps it from ever being more than alright.

It has a nice rom com with an odd love triangle. It has great musical songs throughout. It has a great animation and story arc. Lots of travelling which is great for the artwork. Con is story is odd but thats not really a problem, another con is the love triangle could be done better maybe? Other then that its an above average film
