Superman vs. the Elite

The clash of idealism vs pragmatism is a pretty good subject to touch on and had my attention at first; However, as the movie progressed the way they handled this theme just kept feeling more and more ham fisted. Especially at the ending, where despite The Elite proving that their methods were working we're told that they we're wrong because an overpowered deity outright kicked their asses. Action was pretty bland, especially on how one sided it was. Read Kingdom Come, same idea better story.

Perhaps it's b/c I recently read the superior (better art & much shorter) comic this is based on that I found it so difficult to care about the outcome, but it's more likely a result of all the padding put in to increase the running time which just delays the only unpredictable element - how will Supes beat these guys AND make his point? It also doesn't help that the core idea behind the story is Should superheroes kill serial murderers & if not, why? The comic failed to answer this as well.

An odd but admirable choice of storyline to adapt. The villains aren't great (except maybe The Hat), but the story throws around some interesting concepts.

Haven't we seen this Superman story a million times before - and done way better?

Terrible animation and ham-fisted story. The underpowered Superman was also a letdown.

Not super amazing, but delves into morality and values and at least tries to change things up a bit.

The animation (looks like it is drawn by a really good high schooler) is the weak point in an otherwise engaging story on what makes Superman, well, Superman. The Elite are a group of anti-heroes that want to show the world that Superman and his truth, justice, and honesty are not what the world needs in the 21st century. I never read the comic,, but I enjoyed the philosophical underpinnings of the movie.

One of the better animated adaptations. Though the design of Superman never really sat right with me, the script was above par (a bit of a silly ending notwithstanding) and the action and animation overall very enjoyable.

Really doesn't deliver its message well. You'll get to the last few minutes and say "Wait, you mean I wasn't supposed to agree with the Elite?"

Poor visuals but great story and and strong message. And action are great too. Show us what Superman is capable of and why he is a great idole. Idealism Vs Pragmatism (sarcastic and terroric one)
