Supporting Characters

It's refreshing to see a US indie film which is actually good for a change! This film's triumph is that its characters win you over in the first 5 minutes. Alex Karpovsky gives a fine performance, and, to a lesser extent his cameraderie with Tarik Lowe gives the story a central focal point to revolve around. From then on, whether the theme is relationships, friendships or film-making, the scenes feel real, engaging, well-paced and never superfluous. I hope to see more from the people behind it.

Easily could have descended into a contemptible state in which none of the main characters were likable enough to carry the movie, but the writing's sharp enough to dodge that issue. I enjoyed the depiction of film editors who really aren't any good at any other aspect of life.
