Survival Song

Xiao Li, their goat-herd and odd-job man, is an extraordinary character. He had run off with a mentally handicapped woman and one of the Hans' goats, but returns, frostbitten and contrite, at the beginning of the film, and is given shelter in exchange for work. (viff)
