I did not Suspect that I would have Zero interest after it turns out there's some psychic gobbledygook.

Bland and tedious serial killer film takes its cues from SE7EN but can’t generate the requisite tension needed to keep the initially intriguing, but ultimately silly material on its tracks, not helped by Eckhart who makes for a dull and lacklustre hero. It’s left to Kingsley to swoop in and steal the movie, and he does appear to be having some fun as the demented antagonist, but a lack of development of any sort of tension with Eckhart means he’s basically playing to himself most of the time.

The production history of suspect zero is more interesting than the finished movie, from a non paranormal thriller rewritten into a tom cruise vehicle involving psychic powers to E. Elias Merhige final movie.Unfortunately Merhige's final movie is a stylish undercooked slog due to a boring screenplay and you can't float a turd. Still worth seeing for the filmmaking tho.

B-class thriller, A-class actors. I felt like watching a movie from VHS in the 90s. Acting is rather bland, story is uncomplicated and mostly made of cliches, yet everything is quite pleasurable to watch.

Another entry in the post-Seven cycle of dour police procedurals about serial killers. It's hard to say why I have more patience for this than, say, The Bone Collector, especially with the goofy "remote viewing" angle. There's a certain authentic-feeling sense of a kind of American doom here, some feeling evoked by that black semitruck crawling down a quiet street past a high school marching band as a lead-colored sky looms over the flat Western landscape, looking ready to drop.

The last 20 mins or so lets down an otherwise perfectly adequate crime thriller. Underrated.

Tries, and fails, to emulate both the mood and tone of Seven.

Surprisingly low-key but always striking in every visual and atmospheric way, culminating as an impressively dark and spare genre piece that eschews many of the banalities of modern psycho thrillers. Indeed, it's truly surprising considering that it was made in 2004. The score by itself is a work of genius.

I understand that Merhige needs to pay the bills somehow, but it'd be nice if he didn't choose mediocre scripts to waste his talents on. The remote viewing sequences are excellent and Merhige has considerable talent (stemming from his experimental cinematography work on Begotten) when it comes to distinguishing shots with potent style, especially when he wants to denote a specific idea, but these talents aren't nearly enough to resurrect an inert script from decay.

Standard, despicable and reprehensible in every way, Suspect Zero is an ordinary thriller that pretends to be good. Cowardice and worthless.

Didn't really do anything for me. Halfway through the film I wish the plot was just revealed so I could go home.

The title alone should tell you how much originality you'd suspect could from a dog-tired script and copycat directorial jump-cut visions evoking the memory older and better films.

Not as bad as you think, with rich, subtextual first half, and a haunted Ben Kingsley performance. But it sputters to the end, lost in a sea of re-writes. Shades of a commercial Jodorowsky.

Ben Kingsley! Number 2 on the Ultimate Badass List after Samuel L. Jackson. Not the greatest Kingsley out there, but it satisfied my thirst for more Kingsley, a thirst that hadn't been quenched in a while.
