The last movie appearance of any importance of Al Jolson, in blackface of course, well suited for a nostalgic southern hymn dedicated to song writer Stephen Foster, here played by Don Ameche. It's more the colors and music that carries the story, with Andrea Leeds blessing us with her beauty one in a while. But it's a nice Fox production if one is in a romantic mood about the old south.
