Ben Cronin has it all: the admiration of his many friends, a terrific girlfriend, and an appointment with swim scouts from Stanford. It's not easy; Ben must train for countless hours in the pool for a critical swim meet, work at the local hospital and find quality time with his high school sweetheart, Amy. His wonderful life is disrupted by the arrival of Madison Bell. The new girl in town quickly sets her sights on the impressionable Ben. While their first few meetings are innocent enough, the seductive Madison wants more. (imdb)

Wants to be sleazy fun (a la Fatal Attraction, its obvious influence), but the PG-13 rating keeps it from being all that sleazy, and the moronic script keeps it from being all that fun.

Nothing too unhinged happened at my high school while I was there, sure a couple of students died but they weren't thrust in the plot of a drama you couldn't even begin to care about and you know with how schools are in the US this isn't even a blip lol Imagine owning the Swimfan soundtrack.

I think the movie description says it all for how hardcore this thriller is: "Ben must train for countless hours in the pool for a critical swim meet, work at the local hospital and find quality time with his high school sweetheart, Amy." Fucking bullshit movie, we don't even get to see any swimmers hang dong in the shower.

It's Fatal Attraction for a younger audience. Just not as well done of course.

She is really a fan of swimming. I would rather swim in a pool full of piss than watch this again.

A. Why is the girl in the cop car with her hands cuffed IN front of her? B. Why is there a cop in the backseat with her? C. Who made money off of this movie?

Inferior (if not indeed absurd and idiotic) thriller playing on anxieties about clingy women.

Easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen in a theater. This movie has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Christensen's seductive intensity as the terrifyingly obsessive Madison carries this tight teen thriller to its deadly finish on pure adrenaline and scrumptious psycho-stalker suspense, as you let most of its far-fetched plot points slide. You're left at the end of it all wanting a little more subtlety and character probing from the skimmed-over screenplay, but it's still undeniably exhilarating, and well-filmed and edited too (the rapid angle switches during intense scenes are a cool touch).

There are a lot of plot holes and things that happen in the movie that would never happen in real life. But that doesn't make this a bad movie. Now don't get me wrong this is not by any means a good movie either.

Erika Christensen makes this as watchable as it is. Jesse Bradford isn't bad, but his character is a totally unlikeable dope. Shiri Appleby is really good as the girlfriend, though, which is why it's unfortunate that's all she really gets to be throughout. The whole plot revolves around feeling sorry for a dork who cheated on the best girlfriend a teenage boy could ask for, so it's not exactly great, but I didn't hate watching it. It's campy enough to be mildly enjoyable.

Having recently rewatched Michael Douglas navigate his own similar scenario, this probably fell more flat than intended (were Christensen’s curly blonde tresses a tribute?), but this really is a lame facsimile/riff that wastes a pair of decent performances from Christensen and Bradford on a movie so hastily paced and plotted that we don’t get a plausible foundation for the fixation to stick, and at least two moments of revelation happening off-screen (unless I was busy checking my watch). Bleh.

Is it a piece of crap? Oh, yes. But it's got a bit of campy fun to it, and Erika Christensen's awesome off-kilter sex appeal oozes out of the screen. I'm a neanderthal, and I might have given this a 95 if she'd gotten naked.

wow this really sucked! it was worse than most tv movies. i'll admit that erika christensen's character succeeded in scaring me. her acting is amazing but her character is so despicable. and the rest of the actors and characters are really lame.
