Everything not featuring Laurel & Hardy was mediocre at best. The best scene was with Laurel and the dog. Damn that ape death.

Billed as a Laurel & Hardy film movie but, really, Stan and Ollie have supporting roles in a really lame musical. The magic occasionally shines through in their comedy sequences... but those songs! Those romantic leads! Yuk.

MGM showing once more how NOT to make a Laurel & Hardy film. Fill it with meaningless songs and romance letting the comic duo play second-fiddle in their own movie! They didn't get to do what they do best in this one. I'm torn between this one and The Bohemian Girl (1936) as to which is their worst feature film of the 1930s. This did have Olli blushing in love, the bell & feather gag which always gets a laugh from me, the mousetrap stuff and it's always memorable when they're moving pianos.
