In a college comedy that puts a modern-day twist on an age-old story, Sydney White tells the tale of a tomboy freshman who ditches her conniving sorority sisters and finds a new home with a group of very dorky outcasts. Fed up with the way they've been treated, she's off to war against the reigning campus royalty. (Universal Pictures)

If you are in a hostage situation, taped to a chair, and they only have one DVD, and they give you a choice play the DVD or don't? Say: "Hell No!"

Utterly dire attempt at Snow White-for-the-21st-Century. The cast are fine and some of the ideas are OK (poisoned apple = Apple Mac with a virus? OK, that's not so bad) but upon execution, it just doesn't work on any level. There are zero laughs to be had, it didn't hold my interest at all.

There's something charming about Amanda Bynes movies. They're solidly written but take no risks. There's a lot of fun and sadness in wondering how she could have turned out. This movie picks up in the second half once all the cringey stuff is out of the way. It even becomes an okay election movie. I can get behind Freedom to the 7th Power. Prince was bland. Seeing someone kiss an unconscious person in live action is uncomfortable. Bynes had too much spray tan. Fav scene: "Hi, ho" then hammer jok

A giant pile of cliche, predictable, unfunny gags that in no way play to Bynes' talents. The girl is GOOD. I just wish she'd pick a movie that shows it.

The "dorks" are the only charming part of the movie, and then only barely.

Really stereotypical plot sequences, and pretty much everything else. It has a unique "charm" to it, but I feel like the college campus seemed too small, and the social classes were grabbed from a High School instead of a real college. Granted, greeks 'can' mostly be like that, I feel like the other aspects were misrepresented. Do like I did, give this a rent, and don't take it seriously. It's just a fun little movie. Yup.

Yes, it was just a rehash of Snow White. Yes, Amanda Bynes was awkward in her part. But goddamnit I enjoyed this movie. I'd suggest it as a one-off viewing, because as much fun as it is the first time, I doubt it will be as enjoyable in subsequent views.

"Once upon a time, Amanda Bynes made a movie called Sydney White that so lazily transplanted Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to a college setting that it made one pine for a poison apple." - Nick Schager
