This is a light situational comedy, your enjoyment will depend on how much you like the two main characters.

A minor fun work of Mikio Naruse, who wouldn't really blossom until the 1950s. Here is a light comedy about traveling actors. Not about the star actors. Nope. But the actors playing the horse! The front and the less talented rear end! Not as crazy hilarious as it might sound, but we spend most of the movie listening to the actors trying convince others, and perhaps themselves, how serious and important their role is. Done in that typical subtle Japanese way.
