Take My Eyes tackles the difficult subject of domestic violence, but like "Days of Wine and Roses" and "Drugstore Cowboy," it broadens (and never dilutes) its cautionary tale with humor, lyricism, and a shattered love story. (New Yorker Films)

This is either a filmmaker showing restraint or one of limited talents. Regardless, the subject matter & lead roles make it work.

As the movie is based to the outcomes of domestic violence victims, its feels very real and is this way very hard to watch. Even so, its very important that these film are done and played to bigger audience. Movie also won numerous awards.

Rivetting, tense, conflicted. A close marriage under threat of DV. The female lead is just so good here, getting across genuine fear and at the same time genuine love for her errant hubby (he is well portraid too, as are those who play the more minor roles - but she really shines!). Non-titillating nudity. Words fail me, all I can say is: this is a must watch.
