Individual performances give it life. Otherwise it's the same pointless scenario which killed the 1st generation of Hollywood musicals. Pure nonsense hoping the musical numbers would make a movie. They put James Dunn & Cliff Edwards together hoping they would catch on as a comic duo, but Dunn didn't suit the part, and Cliff was much better alone singing his songs. Lillian Roth out-shined them both.
