Someone should've TAKEN Olivier Megaton out back and drown him in a puddle of garbage water. I would've TAKEN anything over that horrible ending, it tops the "Frosty chocolate milkshake" ending of 2. I was TAKEN back over how much PG13 violence there was, can't shoot the people with the gun but I can bludgeon their faces in so fucking hard. I felt like I was TAKEN for granted.

Liam Neeson's wife gets killed by Russian mobsters and he subsequently murders his way to the truth in this pointless entry in a series that certainly should have only been one film. Every action scene is visually-jumbled chore to sit through: the cameras are always shaking like crazy (and are too close to see anything anyways), and the number of rapid fire edits is rage inducing. This movie is shiny garbage, and Olivier Megaton is officially going on my blacklist.

One of the most insufferable action films I've seen. I don't blame the cast. The plot has more holes than substance, and the camerawork and editing made me want to swallow my eyes so I could throw them back up. This franchise has become a weird joke. Liam Neeson is on his way to the bank wiping tears of laughter with thousand dollar bills. As would I.

Bad way to start off the 2015 rankings. Easily the worst of the franchise. Neeson and Whitaker try their hardest but Megaton is a HORRIBLE director. Like goddamn man, I want to see Liam Neeson fight for more than half a second at a time. Combined with a terrible script, thid movie was doomed. I thought this could have been great. I was proven wrong.

Never saw this one up until now, mainly because I heard that is somehow worse than 2 and 80% of action movies as a whole. It's not good. It feels the most lazy somehow even though 2 felt incredibly bland, and even though you don't expect superb writing from a dumb action flick, I wanted to care about something here, and you don't. It has a few decent actions scenes, and Liam is being Liam, but by the 3rd entry in a franchise, it gets old, especially stuck in a PG-13 world.

This film basically takes the Taken franchise and affixes a cheap knockoff of The Fugitive, embarrassing everyone involved. The proceedings become incredibly predictable. Bryan Mills seems to have lost all his heroic determination. Most of the film consists of an aged Bryan Mills, an incompetent police force, and a largely motionless Russian mob trying to out-fail each other.

They could have made this (hopefully) last film in the franchise at least a fun action flick with Neeson killing a shit ton of people. But no. They brought Megaton back to direct. In every action sequence there was at least 3 cuts a second which made it near impossible to know what the hell was going on. Even when people are just talking, there was a cut every time someone blinked. Maggie Grace was actually not annoying in this one. Megaton should blow up like the town.

Passable entry in the now dependable sub-genre of "Neeson kicks ass"; as always, it's Neeson's effortless authority and professionalism that keeps this watchable, though Megaton's hyperactive, disorienting cross-cutting of action scenes (an ugly throwback to the BOURNE series) destroys most of the tension by making it unclear what is actually happening from moment to moment. Bless Whitaker for finding some interesting tics (rubber band, chess piece) to distinguish his cardboard cut-out.

Olivier Megaton loves closeups and fast cuts, which has the end result of making his action sequences a wash of images that don't seem to actually connect to each other. Also, it doesn't matter if Liam Neeson's character is innocent of this murder when he destroys several buildings, cars and probably killed a few dozen people in proving that. However, I appreciate that a car rolled to the bottom of a cliff and didn't explode for no reason - and when it did, it was due to a bomb.

After Taken 2 and 3, Transporter 3, and Columbiana, I think it's safe to conclude that Olivier Megaton just simply has very little to offer the world as a filmmaker. That said, Forest Whitaker's character's weird obsessions with his rubber band and chess knight were amusing in their bizarreness. Watch out for the "What the hell?!" scene where Liam Neeson poisons his daughter so that she'll run to the toilet to puke/diarrhea (it's unclear) and he can talk to her in the toilet stall.

Sorry, but this series has to stop. The PG-13 action gets old, but it's cool in some scenes. Filmed as if you are playing a video game in my opinion, which does not rub off too well in a movie, and too many cuts. Neeson is as great as usual, and the ending wasn't as predictable as I thought it would be. Taken 3 manages to feel like, well... Every other action movie you see anymore, and not like the first movie in any regards. Also, feels a bit rushed for something that's almost 2 hours long.

The 'last' instalment of the Taken franchise is pretty much a standalone film. There are the familiar fight scenes (which aren't even close to the imagination or choreography of The Raid movies),Liam Neeson's facial expressions never change & the outcome is also the same. The storyline doesn't really link to the previous films apart from the same cast & its very predictable.I really doubt this is the last Taken film we will see because they leave it very open which contradicts the movies tag line.

Scenes shared by Bryan and Kim pack emotional resonance, of course. We certainly don't want the young, pregnant girl to suffer the same fate as her poor mother. In a distant, abstract way, it's good that her ever-watchful, ever-skilled daddy is there to protect her. But that's where the word good ceases to have much application to this soul-sapping actioner, a weary and wearying finale for a franchise that's already taken away too much of our time. The franchise just keeps getting worse. The core story up to the end wasn't too bad, but all the action sequences are back to full blown shaky-cam, including the car sequences. It's a mess. Unlikely events and plot holes abound as well as the feel good filler at the front end. I just hope they keep their promise that it ends here.

Not the outright abomination the second film was, but still a subpar and generic action movie that lacks smarts and is pedestrian in every way. The action is really inconsistent, with chase scenes using so many pans, zooms and jump cuts that they don't make sense at times. I know there are lots of people who love seeing Neeson in this action hero career resurgence, but it's kind of like nails on a chalkboard for me. Every one of these "Neeson kicking butt" movies feels the same to me.

Taken 3 is low point of the franchise and just a bad action movie in general. It's shot poorly, edited without a care in the world, and has a story that's too simple to justify the amount of time it takes to tell, complete with a third-act twist that only serves to extend the running time, something I can't imagine anyone would want. This is a boring action movie that only exists because the producers thought they could milk some more money from the franchise.

I think they have taken this franchise too far. Taken 3 seems like it really didn't need to be made. Yes, it has all the same actors in the other Taken movies, but it had a totally different feel. It's about two hours of cops chasing poor Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) around. Framed for something he didn't do, he evades police while trying to do some investigating of his own. The final scene between Neeson and Forest Whitaker made me roll my eyes because it was just so unbelievable...

Honestly I enjoyed it more than 2. The twists were a little predictable and the audience is totally beaten over the head with symbolism, but the film was still enjoyable and didn't leave me bored in many places. It doesn't hold a candle to the first movie and unfortunately the Taken trilogy is now equivalent to the Matrix trilogy, but I appreciate this movie for what it is, an attempt to give us more Neeson enacting revenge.

First let me just say that this isn't as bad as a lot of people are saying, that being said, this isn't a very good movie. Somehow this ended as the worst of the series. The shakycam and split second editing I could live with but what really sucks was that just about everything that the cops do was either illogical or down right against the law. Way too many plot holes and continuity errors even for a dumb action film to make it really entertaining.

It still boasts Liam Neeson, playing Brian Mills -- that former government operative with a "particular set of skills" -- and his undeniable on-screen charisma. But, based on a plot described as "undemanding" and "formulaic," it would appear that director Olivier Megaton has made one too many trips to the well this time.

TAK3N follows the trend of its predecessor, as once again everything great about the original Taken film is tarnished by another money grabbing sequel. Olivier Megaton is back behind the camera and as expected this film is terribly directed. He hasn't learned from the mess he made of the last film and if anything his unwatchable filmmaking capabilities have severely deteriorated. And as much as I love Liam Neeson, he needs to call time on his carbon copy action outings and steer clear of T4KEN.

In hot pursuit of his wife's killer(s) Liam Neeson trashes an entire freeway and causes a cargo container to flip over half a dozen cars probably mashing trapped passengers into fine pulp. The inherent message in this is fuck everyone else except my family. You don't watch Taken as a serious drama but when the main hero fucks the city up more than Superman in Man of Steel sometimes you just wonder why bother. It's about as good as the other two which is to say not very good at all.

I thought this one was underrated. It's nowhere close to the first, but much better than the tongue-in-cheek second film. Yes, you have to pay a quarter for a locker and stick you brain in it before entering the theater, but it was mindless fun and rarely mindless boredom. One major sticking point: where was the villain going in the end? Couldn't someone just call wherever he was going and have him arrested when he landed? I guess if they did, we wouldn't have that cool car chase.

My biggest concern with any action film is never being able to tell who is who during a fight scene and Taken 3 used shaky cam way too much and it was distracting. Plot wise, it was probably the only one of the three that actually had a story. Neeson is so damn cool as Bryan Mills it's hard to hate on the franchise. It's constant thrills, with cheap action and that is really the flaw I can detect right now. It's a date night movie at best.Check it out. It's fun.

I know Taken 3 is inevitably going to get a lot of hate but it's really not a bad movie. Most action movies are stupid, so I don't care if the action is silly sometimes because I'm going to this movie to see someone kick ass. There are no gaping plot holes that make it unforgivable, and it does a decent enough job giving Neeson a reason to be a badass. It's better than the second. The series is getting tired, but it's still mildly enjoyable. A pretty good action flick, ultimately.
