The sexual tension during Kurt and Sly's shower scene is simply electric, and strangely Sly looks more ridiculous in round-rimmed glasses than Kurt does in full drag?! I wish I could do an English accent like Brion James as the baddie in this movie... it's amazingly shit and awesome all at once.

So finding out that the production of this wonky, over-the-top, 80's buddy cop action/comedy-parody{?}, was actually full of problems from the start, or that the director was fired by the producer after repeatedly clashing over the tone of the movie, wasn't exactly a shock, to say the least. Despite that, or the seemingly obvious lack of a script, there's still some fun to be had inside this clunky, cheesy, action/comedy thanks to Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone, and the rest of the great cast.

80's schlock so far removed from reality and so in love with itself that it feels like a parody played way too straight. A baffling amount of Why Is This Happening wrapped in all the conservative, regressive opinions one could ever need. Or maybe I'm getting too old for this shi- oh cool, it's Gul Dukat!

In what reality are cops minor celebrities for doing their job? Apparently this one. Follow Waltz & Currency as they attempt to clear their recently sullied (and improbable) names by storming the baddies fortified compound armed with cliches and an SUV. The best movie with monster trucks and Kurt Russell in drag you will ever see.

Can't decide if this movie is FUBAR, or SNAFU. Either way it has synth music, Stallone, jokes about size of the penis, villain with ponytail, monstertrucks, club girls, drag queen, big guns, small guns, average guns, there are kicks, punches and handgranades, villain with big jaw, death by electrocution, death by gun, chinese mafia, martial arts, british accent, geek, dirty cops, good cops, dislocated shoulder, reference to movie "Rambo", designer clothes, rats - just to name a few attractions.

Half-assed but sort-of charming 2nd rate buddy cop movie that gets some goodwill for the nice set design and for Jack Palance as the most inept criminal mastermind this side of Wile E. Coyote.

You gotta love some good 80's cheese. It's got synth music, Kurt Russell's mullet, awesome one liners, mindless explosions, boobs, and of course FUBAR. If you don't like this movie, you don't have a soul.

Let's be honest, if Stallone and Russell weren't the leads this wouldn't be worth your time. It's fun in a cheesy 80's action-comedy sort of way (full of one-liners and a really corny ending). Stallone doesn't really fit in his role (at least when his character is acting civilized) and most of his lines are awkward, but he does have the best line in the whole movie, "Rambo's a pussy."

This superb documentary about organised crime and police corruption is also perhaps the eightiesest movie of all time. Sylvester Stallone is a little awkward attempting to be light-hearted, but the film evinces an exuberant joie de vivre that to some extent compensates for its overwhelming silliness. The true point of this movie is alluded to by Teri Hatcher in the final scene: “Why don’t you guys just admit you work well together?” Why indeed?

'Tango & Cash' is not a very good movie. But what it lacks in writing, Stallone & Russell make up for in gameness, making many a poor joke almost fly. I kind of enjoyed it but this is one it's too bad I got around to seeing at least 15 years too late.

Yes, yes, but come on, this movie is a ton of fun! It wastes no time exercising its abundance of cliches and one liners, keeps the action energized and the characters totally in their zones. Russell clearly has more natural charisma, so it would have made sense for Stallone to play his character a little more clean cut, decrease on the quips. Still, it's a great fun, admittedly dumb, worthwhile action flick.

Despite showing signs of post production tinkering, Tango and Cash remains a guilty pleasure. It's a gleeful exercise in moronic machismo that has a degree of self awareness about its silliness without resorting to faux irony. Sly and Russell have excellent chemistry, and their competitive banter is traded with good humour and infectious enthusiasm. Konchalovskiy executes a number of solid scenes, including a memorable jailbreak, and Baird's editing keeps the action moving with admirable verve.

Not as good as it could have been, though once the humor picks up it's fun, especially if you assume the tropey stuff is a satire rather than serious. The plot was a jumbled mess filled with time wasters like a dance scene. Fav scene: sexy Kurt Russell was worth the price of admission. How about a threeway?

This isn't a good movie. At all. Honestly, it's quite bad--but it's extremely entertaining, and oddly not even in some kind of MST3K way. This flick has an element that I feels is missing from so many films these days, and that's fun. It's completely stupid and badly written, but there's such a sense of playful fun between Stallone and Russell, who have great chemistry together. It works best as a comedy, but fails as a cop/action movie.

Imagine you are a director and you have a sizeable budget to hire an actor to play a sofisticated, stock market playing, bespectacled cop. What would you do? Konchalovsky decided to hire Sylvester Stallone, then directed some scenes that has Sly flashing his trademark, heartwarming yet testicle shriveling smile. Some people say that only God can judge, but I would like to step in on this one and say that this is a pretty bad decision. This movie is funny for all the wrong reasons.

Under Quarantine Film Reviews #69: Full of horrendous writing and offensively dull characterization, especially considering the caliber of the two leads. Seriously, hearing Stallone say "Rambo is a pussy" made me physically cringe, and that was in the first 5 minutes. Not to mention Brion James providing us with one of the worst English accents I've ever heard..

I actually went to see this one because it was singled out by an article in the paper by some parents' group as the most antisocial movie of the year, or something. Sure enough, it turned out to be one of those movies with no critical support at all that turned out to be highly enjoyable. I am pleasantly reminded of something Jim Goad wrote about "my superego is for society, my id is for fun"; seeing something with no "redeeming social value" at all can be such a blast

A fun buddy cop movie from the 80s with two of my favorite actors, Russell and Stallone. Especially the Rambo reference. The action is over the top and so are the egos of the two characters of Tango and Cash. Jack Palance and James Hong play memorable villains, and Teri Hatcher is uber sexy in this film, too bad she doesn't get naked, as her cleavage in this film is top notch. Give this a rental if you want to watch an older film you haven't seen yet.

Sly and Kurt should be a match made in Heaven, especially for the then-powerhouse buddy cop genre, but too often, the titular pair come off as in love with with each other as themselves. T&C comes off as one of the most powerfully homoerotic thrillers of the 80s, right up there with Commando and Predator. A somewhat entertaining movie, albeit calculated and not very good. One-liners have to be very good to take on the full effort of making characters likable.

Tango & Cash is a half decent action film and at the time it was great to see Sylvester Stallone & Kurt Russell star alongside one another. And as a kid my mentality was that this was Rambo & Snake Plissken together. But looking back that novelty does just about enough to carry the film. Sylvester Stallone is too serious and Kurt Russell's funny man performance is hit and miss. There's a handful of enjoyable set pieces but there's one too many dumb moments. Typical run of the mill 80's action.

Feels like they wrote it as a dumb kids movie but then kinda did it as a bad comedy for (semi-)adults. I don't think I've ever encountered worse rebuttals. Basically variations of "You're dumb." "No, y o u ' r e dumb." "You know, only dumb people say that." "I think I've heard that before. Some idiot must have told me." Great music, though. :)

An enjoyable buddy cop movie but not much more. The main attraction is surely the interplay between Sylvester Stallone, who unexpectedly puts his comedic chops to work with slightly mixed but certainly pleasant results, and Kurt Russell, who looks like a million bucks and steals the show with his swagger. It's no surprise that the bad guys are as formulaic as it gets and that the script is a hackneyed excuse for action set pieces, but at least the results are engaging and quite funny at times.

Straight-arrow, down-the-line 80s actioner is entertaining enough if ultimately forgettable – attempts a breaking glass world-record (seriously, it starts in the second scene and never stops) and showcases an easy going, though never electric, chemistry between Stallone and Russell, who both seem to be on cruise control. A waste of Palance in support (though I continually feared those mice were about to be eaten!), but the opportunity to see James as a full on cockney limey is priceless.
