Tarzan and the Amazons

Even though the story structure is pretty bad (Amazons are introduced & then forgotten about for about a third of the film), I found this film to be the most interesting simply because of the unexpectedly nuanced ethical situations the characters find themselves in (most of the intruders are only guilty of respectful curiosity & the Amazons seem merciful one minute & lousy the next). Of course Tarzan, being the noble savage is never wrong, but his refusal to consider other ideas also seems jerky

Wish they's explored the Amazons country a bit more, for that was the real escapism in Tarzan and the Amazons (1945). The rest was rather ordinary Tarzan stuff with a brand new Jane. Good dose of adventure as you'd expect from the Johnny Weissmuller era of Edgar Rice Burroughs fabled character.

As my first Weissmuller Tarzan movie, I really got everything I expected and perhaps a bit more. The production values aren't too bad, it's got some good sets, and a fairly decent plot. I wasn't particularly impressed with Weissmuller, he doesn't really seem like an ape man, just a man who wears a loin cloth and speaks broken English, I guess if that's an ape man, it's news to me.
