Tarzan's Secret Treasure

Possibly the best Weissmuller Tarzan movie, but still only manages to be a trivially interesting flick. This one gets points for having some pretty decent underwater shots, but other than that it's not a particularly good movie.

I like how everything described in the plot summary doesn't happen until the last 20 minutes because the movie has much more pressing matters of watching a monkey and an elephant annoy each other.

Charming when it was just the jungle family, a little more exciting when the bad guys enter their realm, but there was something a little dull about this adventure, especially in the early stages. Does pick up at the end with the water sports and crocodiles. Maureen O'Sullivan looks as elegant as ever as Jane.

One of the best installments as you get 2 quality villains you can root against; a much better comic relief than Cheeta in the form of a stereotypical Irishman; & an action-packed river rescue climax w/ decent efx for the time. You also see a cartoonish "home life" that at least hints at why Jane prefers jungle living. What's most interesting is the intro of a black child who becomes friends with Boy & though he does little, by the end of the film seems like he could've become part of the family

Finally classic Weissmüller/O'Sullivan Tarzan story. Blacks are black and white people white. Some successful beast/man tricks (mostly rhino or lion hunting somebody). BTW, Tarzan uses swinging trapeze.

Movie about gold prospectors who threaten Tarzan and his family, solid Movie.

Classic.
