"Tau" is "Ex Machina" for people who realize that humans are more evil than AI could ever be. But it's still a subject that hasn't really been done quite right yet, so kudos for Netflix trying to beat a dead horse better than the other guys. Stress on the word "trying".

90 minutes of maika monroe trying to get hal to open the pod bay doors, while ed gein tries to get maika monroe to open her pod bay doors and it just seems everyone here's out of luck.

Another Netflix sci-fi miss. It's a shame because I like the "trapped in a house" set-up, Monroe does what she can, and Oldman is passable as the AI voice. But it's dull, the plot is terribly written, people do stupid things, and it has that Netflix darkness that is just kind of murky. The interactions between Julia and Tau are fairly compelling and emotional, but the movie has to take some dumbass leaps to allow those to happen.

What if you could make Hal fall in love with you in order to escape? RISOS

Street smarts vs school smarts. Who wins? Potato. Why hot girls wouldn't want to be kidnapped and forced to listen to Gary Oldman in a can all day while solving mathematical equations is a mystery to me.

A low budget sci-fi thriller that takes chances and delivers hits and misses. Extra points for the interesting premise of a human captive relationship with an artificial intelligence. There were many good elements but holes in the plot and some poor dialog drag it down. Sets are mostly very dark and the music was a little bombastic. It needed more refinement, better editing, more finesse, a bigger budget and a better name.

Hey, Federico: Even if you get a pretty blonde with a sympathetic face in your lead role were still gonna notice if her character sucks.weve all seen the same movies you have. It's cool, everything's inspired by something, nothing new under the sun and all that, but uh, maybe when you're taking those same big philosophical swings those movies went for you should veil it better so you're swing isn't a big loud WHIFF of an A.I. asking point blank questions.

Far too shallow narrative to be enticed by the few more than decent scenes between Tau and Julia. Tau itself is nicely portrayed, apart from the annoying Oldman voice. The first few scenes are very low budget The Cube-like and will undoubtedly put off many viewers.

What a shame. This should have been twice as good as Aronofsky's Pi.

Less of a horror and more of an AI Sci-Fi, which might’ve been a good thing. It does require slight suspension of disbelief with certain character decisions and how the AI works, but it’s an enjoyable enough film. It could’ve been better, but I liked it more than the reviews led me to believe.

Simple premise, pretty effective. Slow burn but it works fairly okay. Basically escape room but with some byplay between captor and captive.

Everything is kind of silly from the premise, to the way Tau works, to the characters' actions. Full of Hollywood style tech jargon that doesn't make sense (this is a minor issues). Paced badly too. Despite that, the drama almost kept my attention but not quite. Completely different to what the blurb implies. More horror with a sci-fi setting than sci-fi.

This was quite a bit more enjoyable than I anticipated. It's not necessarily very well written, but Monroe makes it compelling and Oldman as Tau was a nice touch. Solid low budget sci-fi thriller from NF that I waited until I was on a vacation w limited downloaded options to watch. 6.6
