Tea and Sympathy

Viewed July 14, 2018. Pretty great. Kind of Minnelli's answer to Rebel Without a Cause. On the surface it's rather silly, since the Production Code prohibits discussion of homosexuality and replaces it with "masculinity," but ultimately its fine, because Minnelli's images are able to express more than words ever could. So many of his finest compositions are in this movie. It's ravishing. Also, I love Deborah Kerr.

I'm amazed that this isn't a camp classic and people actually like it

Em honra do centenário de Deborah Kerr. Me impressiona o fato desse filme não ser mencionado mais usualmente como uma das grandes obras-primas do cinema americano dos anos 50, a gente sabe que com Minnelli não tem erro, mas isso aqui é um desbunde de maravilhosidade, nível Splendor in The Grass de coming-of-age dramático, saber da vida pessoal do cineasta o torna ainda mais enternecedor.  DVDRip no MakingOff.
