Brits do feelgood unlike any others; as endearing as this conversation between four old friends is, it's never... mushy. There's steel in there somewhere. I find myself wishing we'd been shown some more of that, but it's well worth a watch anyway. Caution: may leave you jonesing for champagne and unavailable old BBC broadcasts.

Irresistible, straightforward filming of an endearing series of informal conversations between the four dames - lovely to see these fine actresses having fun together without the pretence of being plugged into a variation of GRUMPY OLD MEN; while searing insights are all but absent, the more obscure archival footage for each actress is fascinating; sometimes all you need is to be in the company of such charming, witty (and iconic) characters as these for an hour and a half!

I guess it's just a glorified vodcast. The cutting to their old and probably rather unseen theatrical performances is the real MVP here, because there's little to gather for this documentary when it supposedly was shot in one afternoon -- but these gals are entertaining and it's definitely worth a watch for any aspiring actors as they divulge on some worthwhile advice and anecdotes. As good as Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Fun enough to watch but despite a few tantalizing glimpses into their pasts, after watching this, you really don't feel any closer to the four ladies. Consider this a book trailer for four autobiographies.

I have a keen interest in the history of cinema, tv and theatre, so this was a joy for me to watch. The stories - about Olivier, Welles etc. - and the storytellers are captivating. The archival footage is wonderful to behold. And of course, Atkins, Dench, Plowright and Smith are the sort of company that one can only wish when having a cup of tea and talking film/tv/theatre. Genuine legends.

A pleasant, fairly static filmed conversation between four legendary actors turns utterly magnetic as philosophies on art, love, solvency, and grit are shared and giggled over. A must-see for fans of great actors and acting, especially those who are theater-lovers before all else.
