Here's a bizarre but true story. The scene that stuck out to me the most in this movie was the jello down the blouse scene, in which, you guessed it, jello is poured down a girl's blouse and then some fat bastard tries to eat it through her shirt. And in true eighties vein these are presumably high schoolers! First seeing this as an impressionable young boy...well...let's just say I wasn't really welcomed at too many house parties in high school.

Almost so bad it's good. Almost. Fox looks more like an ape than a wolf. The reveal of the father after the bathroom scene was pretty hilarious.

One of those uniquely 80s movies where it's entertaining, but where a lot of the enjoyment comes at laughing at the film's ridiculousness and lack of self-awareness. If An American Werewolf in London were merged with a Disney channel original movie, and Marty McFly were cast, you would have this movie. Which is so ridiculous that I can't take it seriously.

The perfect movie to describe what I love about the 80's. It's ridiculous, but in the best way possible. And its not even necessarily bad. It's just crazy, and Michael J Fox shows off his acting godliness in the role of a lifetime. Never will I fall in love with a movie, that is so fundamentally average.

Apparently, all of my TCI's hate this movie. Strange. It's 80's. It's Michael J. Fox. It has the greatest basketball player ever (the werewolf). Come on. Seriously. Come on. It doesn't deserve all this venom. Lighten up, people, and realize what you're getting yourself into when you decide to watch a movie like this.

I think I can see why this isn't viewed too well, but hell if Michael J. Fox isn't fantastic at what he does. Sure it's flawed and not always funny, but it doesn't really have any pacing issues or script issues, and like I said in my review for Eddie and the Cruisers, I love the 80s.

Obviously, a ridiculous movie, but 1 extra point for this quote: "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese."

Michael J. Fox gives the worst performance by an actor pretending to play a sport...just narrowly edging the guy who played the junkballing veteran pitcher in "Major League", with his laughable attempts at trying to convince us that he's even held a basketball before. Gotta work on the layups MJF!

A fun, feel-good movie from the 80's. Nothing too serious or too stupid, just some good fun. You can definitely see why Michael J. Fox would have been catapulted into stardom right around this time. He definitely has that young, cute Tom Cruise appeal that was so prevalent in 80's movie stars. I really liked Jay Tarses, the coach, he seemed like a funny guy who should have been in more movies.

Bizarre, yet it's low-key enough to make great so-bad-it's-good entertainment, and it's certainly one of the best at that. A testament to the insanity of the creative team behind it.

It's a simple 80's teen comedy in which puberty jokes are taken to an extreme. Michael J. Fox's unique charm and unease make this a fun film that's just a little too campy to be considered an 80's classic. Pretty good!

Do all werewolves have exceptional basketball skills? Someone bothered to create a stat line as the wolf and as his normal self: Teen Wolf vs. Military Academy (2:08 of game footage): 8-8 FG (16 points), 1 assist, 1 defensive rebound, 1 block, 1 steal Scott Howard vs. Dragons (7:13 of game footage): 5-5 FG, 4-4 FT, 1-1 3FG (15 points), 6 assists, 4 steals

Make no mistake, by any metric this is a bad film, but unlike so many youth oriented films today it is unselfconsciously goofy and extremely good natured. It is essentially an 80's update of 50's genre style, and it doesn't attempt to reinvent the wheel like Landis' werewolf film of the same decade. There are many laughable scenes that reek of 80's cheese, and the transformation sequence is cheap and unconvincing, but Fox's charisma goes a long way and it has plenty of nostalgic charm.

Good concept, some humorous moments, but overall it's a class below all those other 80s teen movies I grew up loving. The transformations to wolf are actually directed in quite an edgy way (especially the music, though it's too intense for me) which gives the film character. But underneath, the characters are too generic. Stereotypes I can live with, but these are not even fleshed out at all. The story's potential is wasted. Can't help but love the scenes where the wolf plays basketball though.

Flat and bland teen comedy, the complete package with puberty metaphors, terrible acting, bad jokes, an awful score, shoddy makeup and effects for the titular character. Despite all this the utterly daft scenario is kinda endearing, perhaps creating comedy just because it's so silly. Michael J. Fox is utterly wasted.

While cool in concept and anchored by a strong lead, it still fails to be anything special whatsoever- and a lot of that comes down to the script. Poor character choices, a plot that falls apart in the second act, two female leads who exist purely to be love interests and contribute nothing else, and a pair of villains who are less interesting than dish soap all combine with mostly unfunny humor to create a highly underwhelming comedy that does little more than disappoint.

That was my first movie of Michael J. Fox, what i've watched 1993 and I was so impressed with my Younger Ages that I want to become A Werewolf :D LOL .. Years Later after re-watched this Film I experienced the fact that the Practical effects at the time of 1985 was actually damn Good .. but at least after all the Old kinda Movies has there own Practical Effects untill to the CGI's of the 21century .. .. Essentially a sports film, about a high-school basketball team on which one of the players just happens to be a werewolf (and several conspicuous inches taller than when he is not a werewolf). The ability to slam-dunk, to dribble between one's legs, to pass behind one's back, adds little to lycanthrope lore, however, and there are no other additions.

Definitely cheesy and dated, but I guess the fact that it's still remembered after all this time has got to be worth something. It's a taste of the eighties that despite its flaws, has still clicked with a lot of people over the years.

Werewolves exist, sure. Nobody questions the fact that werewolves exist, I'll let slide. Werewolves are amazing basketball players, I'm fine with. What I'm not fine with is Michael J. Fox jumping to shoot his free throws. You can't do that, your feet have to stay planted.
