It shows how important other two Hui bros were to earlier Michael Hui films. Here he is left alone, and the film not only lost most of the fun, but quality as well. Teppanyaki reminded me of that trash Jing Wong puts out. There are a few good gags (the one with Roentgen's machine was awesome), but overall message of the film doesn't have that charm, optimism of Hui's previous efforts. Forgettable and disappointing.

The ingredients are there but it's hard for Michael Hui to carry a movie with just gags without a straight man. The cheating husband trope was done better elsewhere, including by All's Well Ends Well, especially since Hui is so hapless once he actually gets the girl. Most of the film is just regurgitating the same character traits. Fav scenes: tennis; chasing the dog.

A few good gags don't a good movie make. Most of this is just frantic and unfunny.
