A pleasant surprise. Gibson is not as boring as you'd expect, and Pfeiffer and Russell are definitely alright. The crook, who fantastically goes by the name 'Carlos', is pretty superb, actually. The typical 80's background music you can never discredit on too many occasions, but still there is some charm present for a flick as this. Although, more than anything, this will probably go down in history for its unnecessarily stupid title, I'm afraid.

Heat meets The Departed in a drink called Tequila Sunrise. Pfeiffer, Russel and Gibson. All the ingredients are there for a great smooth tea. The drink is however badly poured and you wind up with a somewhat watery drink. Idiotic title. Not a bad movie, but not really great either.

I really shouldn't have seen this as an adult with an hopefully more refined taste. Dull.

TEQUILA SUNRISE is a surprisingly ho-hum affair, given the talent involved. There are moderate pleasures to be found in its low-key cat-and-mouse game and a stellar performance from Pfeiffer, but this is a prime example of a '70s movie hopelessly lost in the '80s, with all the gauzy, saxophone-scored hot tub sex that implies

If you enjoy crappy, 80's cop dramas with unnecessary sax solos, then this is the film for you.

Bad script somehow elevated by the performances of Russell, Julia, Gibson, and Pfeiffer (in that order since she was fairly inconsistent but had some great one-liners). The love triangle doesn't really make sense from her POV. I liked the bromance with the 3 men. Fav scene: everyone's talking about the sax solo hot tub sex scene but here I am thinking it must have been a pain to plan the shoot.

The 80's aesthetic is fun (I want Kurt Russell's sunglasses but also realize I'd look like a fucking idiot), but this feels like a weak version of Friedkin's To Live and Die in LA. Even the usually great Raul Julia is forgettable.

A story around three arcs and none is interesting or compelling

Mel Gibson, Kurt Russel and Michelle Pfeiffer. Interesting trio. Unusual story.

It's easy to forget because she got so annoying, but damn, Michelle Pfeiffer used to be pretty--and actually had some grace. Nowadays she just looks rode hard and put away wet. How she could choose Mel Gibson over the smoldering hot Kurt Russell is beyond me, although he manages to make the notion believable that he's not batshit crazy--that's a superhuman acting feat right there. Raul Julia hams it up beautifully.

This feels joyously 80s Hollywood to me

The character set ups were decent but this is a fairly bland slow paced melodrama that underutilises the three lead actors and save for a solid and memorable turn from a supporting Raul Julia there's very little to save this bafflingly titled, 80's sax solo driven snoozefest.

An average movie devolves into an absolute disaster in the last half hour. What a waste of Gibson, Russell, and Pfeiffer here. This movie is a love triangle that tries to be a crime suspense film.

"Tequila Sunrise" is sexy, stylish, and its three major players give great performances, but there's a convolution to the story that keeps it all from being weaved together neatly.
