Sure I have problems with this one I can’t think of anywhere this fits into other movies and the family name being changed is confusing But I can have fun with it and I think the kills are pretty good Not the best TCM movie I’ve seen but not the worst either

If you're gonna take liberties with a well documented franchise, at least get the logistics right. This film picks up the same night that the original movie ends...August 19th, 1973. That was 40 years ago, but for some reason, Heather is only in her 20's now. Do people not even think anymore when making movies? Also, are we to believe that Heather conveniently forgets that Leatherface just slaughtered her friends and lives in a pit of gore, but she's ok with that because they are family? FFS!!!

It would be fair to say that I wasn't super-impressed with it and certainly wasn't scared (or even tense, really) at any point. That said, Alex Daddario in this movie is one of the most beautiful human beings I've ever seen on screen in my life, and certainly the most memorable thing in the film. But, not to discount the awesome power of a beautiful woman or anything, if it's the best thing in your film you probably haven't made a great film.

So are Heather and Leather (Jesus how am I only now realizing that dumb pun of a name) gonna do some hot cousin fucking or something? At least this isn't boring. Could've at least delivered on some Alexandra Daddario nudity if you're gonna go hard-R, we know she's game.

i was really hoping that, after leatherface was arrested, the film was going to take an unexpected twist and become a courtroom drama with kanye west as his lawyer

I saw this flick only because of Alexandra. The movie did not serve anything special; she did. She run. Points for that.

Not as bad as I went in thinking thanks to the strong foundations of a story, even if it contradicted itself a couple times and only had one well-written character. Alex Daddario was stunning but HOW did her shirt not pop open at the end there? RIPOFF! All told it's not as good as the first 3 or the remake, but leagues better than TNG and Beginning.

A lot not to like - CGI, gore looks ugly - but gotta admire how bold this tries to be comparing (more pulp, grindhouse fun than torture porn) to PD remakes. By picking up right where original ended, it totally "rewrites" the mythology, placing a false final girl/anti-hero - Jed's cousin - and not actually being just another shot at the horny-youngsters-road-tripping-and-getting-massacred-in-Texas. Revenge stuff seems forced - bloodline matters -, but kind of makes totally sense. Post-creds rules

This one toys more with the legend of the original film than any in between the two, and relies more on plot than kills and gross-out factors, which is a relief within the genre. Maybe it's that reason that I enjoyed it more than I thought I was going to, but regardless, check it out if you were a fan of the original. It does a good job of turning the franchise upside down.

I actually liked this more than I expected. There was a little bit more than the usual hack and slash of the killer. There was an actual story! The horror! An half-decent story line in a horror flick?! The girls were very pretty. The killer was creepy. And the side characters were annoyingly stupid enough that you almost wanted to see how they get killed.

The 3rd best Texas Chainsaw film. But that's not really saying much as all of the sequels and remakes are either terrible or mediocre. Some of the writing is 2 Fast 2 Furious level cringe and it's cliched as hell and really the more I think about it it makes no sense at all but it's tough to stare at Alex Daddario for an hour and a half and not be somewhat pleased. But honestly: https://static.dyp.im/twGFxFTzK1/471bb5d25b11c277e516c42831526a5b.gif did they really tape her boobs down? lol

Useless, pointless, and shitty, the sequel/reboot of Texas Chainsaw is pretty much all bad. There are no real scares going on here, and no psychological intensity to back the jumps. The acting is terrible, from all corners, and some of the direction and cinematography is just ugly. Also the neutering of Leatherface into an antihero? C'mon. You know there's been a mistake when the Michael Bay version of your movie is ranked higher.

Every horror cliche imaginable pops up in this blood-drenched direct sequel to the original Texas Chainsaw Massecre. The characters here are quite possibly the stupidest human beings written in a film script. While I'm not a fan of the slasher genre, or the terrible writing here, there were some chilling moments and it always kept my attention. I could see horror fans enjoying it.

Attempt to take the franchise in a different direction (especially attempting a bizarre poignancy to the Leatherface character) doesn't really work, but points for trying; as a standard issue slasher, the film works surprisingly well, helped by a likable, attractive cast of characters who nevertheless make some *incredibly* dumb decisions. But it's all par for the course, no? 3D effects are variable, but do add some amusingly ghoulish touches to the goings on.

I hate when slasher films try to generate suspense by following dumb & horny teens around & sequels that have little interest in what came before, so this has a promising start. However, there are a bunch of new characters the film thinks I should recognize, & I don't. Daddario is very pretty to look at though & the film understands that it should kill its dumb & horny teens ASAP. There's also some twists on the original, but the mayor needed to be far worse for me to cheer Leatherface on.

Something about being a direct sequel to a film set in the 1970's doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you got smartphones...aside from that, turning your iconic killer into an antihero after he spent most of the film murdering everyone also is very confusing. A lot of this film doesn't make sense, and it's not scary either. I appreciate the gore, and Daddario is trying here, but few and far between do I walk away with being surprised by a film's incompetence as I am here.

Mostly forgettable except for the turn to make Leatherhead an antihero. Not something you want to be remembered for. The gore is fine and Daddario is an good scream queen, but the screenplay is just dumb.

The first half of this is actually not bad. The performances are decent if unspectacular, the pacing is on point, & it's at least trying to be different. I respect that. Unfortunately, it makes the horrible mistake of betraying its own story in the second half, turning Leatherface into a hero & final girl Heather into a one-note damsel who forgives him for almost murdering her & her friends because...family, I guess? Who the hell wrote that? The cameos are fun, though. This could've been better.

While it may be an unusual opinion, I found this to be one of the better entries in the series. The acting leaves a lot to be desired. But the film is well shot and has some half decent ideas as its backbone. Ideas that won't work for everyone, but at the very least, they are different. Which in and of itself is enough to make a slasher sequel special.

Not particularly good, yet not spectacularly awful either, this one had a feel like a lot of disposable horror movies from ten years earlier. Daddario makes good eye candy, as does Eastwood, though he doesn't have much of a role here. Eastwood might not fill his dad's shoes, but he isn't half bad of an actor. Pedigree counts for something, I guess.

It's kind of entertaining and it has some funny bits (most inadvertedly), but that's where all the good things end. If you're a fan of the original movie, then you'll be constantly scratching your head how the plot and the characters make zero sense in this movie. I didn't agree making an iconic movie villain into a cuddly puppy. It takes away the fear factor of the whole setting and painting the bad guys as victims is just bullshit, as is the sweet girl turning into a mega killer because FAM.

The first half was interesting in the sense that it had one compare the scenes with the first Chainsaw Massacre movie. The use of similar scenes and elements presented a different way or modernised was fun to see. Some of the characters even were smart for horror movie victims. But then the second act starts with the fair scene, and then it's all downhill from there. It's drawn out small town drama with bad new lore, and the girl making a full 180 in logic and brains

Circumstances conspired to make my girlfriend and I the only two in the cinema for our screening of this movie, which elevated the tension a little bit. And the 3D was actually pretty impressive. But c'mon, this was never actually going to be good. It was fun enough, and I don't regret having watched it. (This isn't The Devil Inside.) But discerning horror fans will have more fun elsewhere.

I'm a fan of the original straight through to Next Generation. As for "3D", what I for one find horrific is that the most technically lavish Texas Chainsaw film to date is also by far the least intelligent. I expected it to be totally devoid of originally, but I was wrong if one considers the unprecedented retardation of the script. Trying to find reason in the plot makes my head hurt, and a great deal of the dialogue is unintentionally comical.

I'll admit I mainly watched this for Alexandra Daddario but even she couldn't save this movie. I think they tried to get a little too creative with the lore of the series and it just felt lame and contrived. This was just another reason to create a 3D movie to sell expensive tickets. This also had some of the worst dialogue ever like "Get away you country freak!" and "Welcome to Texas mother..." The ending was also completely unbelievable, I don't buy it for a second.

More enjoyable than expected but the only thing that saves it are the words "Texas" and "Chainsaw" in the title. If this were a standalone horror without the franchise tie in it wouldn't get a mention.

For the first half, I was like, what were reviews talking about? This ain't that bad. But wow, that second half got so astoundingly stupid. Some real unbelievable things in there. It's supposed to be a direct sequel to the original, but it doesn't fit at all. All the designed-for-3D shots were lame, as they always are. But yeah, the story just goes off the rails at the end, for sure. It sucks overall, but it's actually still one of the better movies in this franchise.

This movie was terrible. I did not feel one ounce of fear the whole time. I think it was confused as to whether it was trying to be a "sling blade" style drama or a horror movie. SPOILER when she threw the chainsaw to the villain and said "do your thing cuz" I immediately knocked this movie from a 50 e to a 30 movie.
