Crams its PTSD agenda so far down your throat to the point where it feels excessive, phony and unconvincing. I wish it had focused more on smaller, intimate moments (e.g. the dog scene), seemingly inconsequential to the narrative yet ones that would've developed the characters in a more genuine and engrossing way.

Good effort at a social-justice movie, but the ending seemed a bit rushed and cost it a three-star ranking.

An up-close and personal look into the post-war lives of a team of American soldiers who have suffered some very traumatic and unimaginable events. They find themselves in a constant waking nightmare and attempt to cope with their mental scarring through the bonds of family and friendship. The message is to educate society on the serious complexities of mental health coupled with severe trauma.

Over 7,000 veterans commit suicide every year. Nice to see a film acknowledge this widespread trauma.

Sold out at the end which is a shame.

It is mostly entertaining and engaging throughout. Miles Teller gave a good performance, as did all of the cast. What's up with Amy Schumer in a dramatic role? Good music and production. It has some action and a little mystery. It was hard to understand the PTSD symptoms. Overall, it is a worthwhile look into the psychological toll caused by exposure to lethal combat.

Miles Teller is one of the best working today. He gives off another emotionally difficult performance here and the only hinderance to the film was the shared screen time. The story aims to tell us how some of these men and women will never be the same. It is very bleak in terms of not setting things on a happy path as it draws to a close and closes admist a sprawling narrative about acceptance of the past and finding the will to keep going. If you like realism this is certainly a good one.
