Cary Grant and Doris Day. It doesn't get much better. Clever, funny, charming, and an appealing visual time-capsule.

Understated and under-rated. Whitty charming and intelligently crafted script make this a classy romantic comedy. Grant is so dry he's positively arid with some great physical comedy whic is still underplayed (Jim Carey note) - Doris Day just makes you smile throughout. Funny and detailed sub-plots and great detail make this a snapshot of the sixties.. Catch it if you can.

Rote romantic comedy. Dorris Day is a virgin and Cary Grant is against it, and the tension comes from whether or not wedding bells come first in the equation or not at all. Considering Day's image and the time it was made, the result isn't surprising. Grant has some charming moments and Gig Young has some fun as the buffoony secretary, but the film is so anti-bourgeoisie you have to check to make sure Ayn Rand didn't get a credit. And Dorris Day, as always, is Dorris Day. Bleh.

Doesn't disappoint if you are expecting a typical Doris Day film, with the usual will she/won't she plot, prim outfits and unmovable hair.

lackluster start but the last twenty minutes were nonstop hilarious. most of my problem with this film is that doris day is 40 years old and clearly looks 40 years old and so is not at all convincing as a timid, virginal young girl.

Academically -- especially for feminists -- this fantasy is of great interest, as a picture of romantic mores as the 1960s began. Otherwise, the leads are too old, the pace is slow, for a comedy it is not funny -- at least the supporting actors lend much-needed sparkle.

To the extent the film depends on Doris Day it's not for me. But Grant is great and the writing has some bright spots even if it's a little under cooked.
