Weirdly sluggish. An undue amount of emphasis on a bunch of running jokes that are never funny. The cutting seems off. Every time it's about to hit on a decent comic idea, it fizzles out. This isn't the Lubitsch touch - it's the Lubitsch Brushing Past One Another on a Crowded Street.

Something as rare as a Ernst Lubitsch I didn't absolutely fall in love with. I had all the earmarks of a speculative Lubitsch world, but perhaps the moral codes tamed it from the proper naughty Lubitsch touch. Doesn't end all that bad, for there you get a good doze of his sense of humor.
