A Swedish Forrest Gump with less sappy sentimentalism and more explosions and death. Which is of course an improvement.

Mildly entertaining but more silly than hilarious.

Funniest movie I've seen in a good while. It's an original Swedish take on "Forrest Gump" with some "Magnolia" thrown in. Half in English, including the narration, with the subtitles not being too distracting.

The pathological urge to bomb everything was a nice contrast for otherwise calm protagonist. Witty, laconic, and full of life story with unexpected twists. Alan Ford was acting, well, Alan Ford.

Surprisingly witty and funny, it tells its story in an uniquely Nordic way.

This is a charming, although flawed, Forrest Gumpy story about the adventures of a very old man. The charm really is this movie's key. The acting is decent and the music helped setting up the feel of the movie perfectly. On the downside, the "rule of funny" is applied generously; people get injured for laughs a lot, and it doesn't always work for the movie. But overall, it's an enjoyable and (I can't stretch this enough) charming movie.

Forrest Gump meets Napoleon Dynamite. Anarchistic and very funny, this madcap caper film about 2 old guys, a loser and an elephant handler on the run from amateur gangsters is the summer antidote to all superhero blockbusters. It's silly, clever and plain funny in equal measures, but my only criticism is that the story spiralled a little too much into ludicrous set-pieces in the final third. Super performance by Robert Gustafsson, who certainly cannot be that old, dim or ingenious in real life.

An entertaining tale of the 100 year old fella who decides to leave his home, and then his adventure with no plan begins. It is a darkly comical tale with lots of recollections of his colourful life intertwined with his current adventure.

Very charming and very funny, along the classic screwball comedy vein. Lots of fun, with an extremely lovable main character.

Certainly passable, there are definitely a number of funny scenes. It is quite a long film however and sometimes it tries a little too hard.

Not nearly as charming as it thinks it is, poorly paced and pointless all around, with an occasional amusing moment.

I think it's a funnier version of Forrest Gump. The complete ignorance of Karlson own actions is brutally honest.

Charming little flick. Less to it than the Gump it emulates although rather than an endearing innocent humor from the main character we have a gruff cynical eastern European humor which certainly kept the film interesting. Gustaffson was great and his presence and delivery wonderful

The life story of one Allan Karlsson (Robert Gustafsson), whose penchant for explosions leads him to rub shoulders with Franco, Oppenheimer, Stalin, Einstein's dimwitted brother, and eventually, a freed circus elephant. Allan is a bit too detached and enigmatic for the film to truly soar (and it's a little long in the telling), but there are quite a few laughs on display, thanks to the film's uniquely Scandinavian sense of humor. Alan Ford pops up in an amusing reprise of his work in SNATCH.

I see some people compare it as Sweden's Forrest Gump. And that's true in a way, except the hundred year old had a lot worse influence on world history and loved to blow things up. Definitely fun, even in it's overly superficial approach to the world.
