Five different people from five different countries suddenly disappearing from view. They have been gently abducted by the agent of a faraway dying planet, who gives each of the five earthlings a "killing capsule" that will destroy everything on Earth and allow the residents of the alien planet to re-colonize the planet--but which will be ineffective if not used after 27 days.

Terrible ending, but a few elegant moments hidden within.

The Alien's moral code is rather dubious, to say the least (or most). Then along the way we get briefly sidetracked into It Happened One Night shenanigans. The finale is pure gibberish, and seems to indicate that the morality of the entire inhabitable universe is open to some very grave questions.

Interesting film about how man would deal with unlimited power. It's really fun to watch, especially when you realize it was made before the first space flights took place.
