This slow and largely uneventful cult classic is visually interesting with great music, but the story is a mess and it doesn't pack much of a punch in horror terms. Vincent Price can hardly be expected to dazzle in the usual manner when he's playing a mute - sadly his voice is heard only sparingly through a device he attaches to his throat - and Joseph Cotten has almost nothing to do.

A great mystery horror with Vincent Price. The kills are ingenious and waiting for them builds some good tension, and the police provide some nice comedy without undermining the horror of the film. There's nothing complex here, but the film's construction is excellent.

A lurid, camp little curiosity, featuring some impressive set design and some interesting scoring. Perhaps the plot and pacing isn't up to much, but there is plenty to enjoy here, the cast in particular. Did this inspire Se7en? Worth seeing, especially for Price fans.

This is the second Price film I've ever seen. Not sure what to make of it? Very ornate and strange, but with the way this film switches between weird Price shit and bumbling procedural, it wasn't too fun watching the cops figure out what we already knew within the first 15 minutes. That being said, I thought the cop scenes were pretty hilarious and they carried me through the film.

It's an interesting premise, one which would later be altered for Fincher's Seven IMO, but nothing in this film is really all that good. Price is creepy, but I didn't really feel like he was great. The deaths are a big part of the film and not many of them really stood out. Overall, pretty much an unremarkable horror film.
