The Addams Family 2

Doing the addams family theme finger snap alone in my darkened house. The last movie sucked but I was in the right mood for it. This just sucks and there is no mood to save it. Who needs jokes and japes when you can just have everyone putz around to garbage music.

This strikes me as more of a generic kids movie with the skeleton of the Addams Family more than anything. Considering this, there's so little to say about it as it's mostly preaching generic platitudes about familial values that I couldn't help but roll my eyes at how superficial it is. Beyond that, it's mostly awkward use of pop music to "modernize" the brand and the jokes are far more lazy and less whimsical than older outings of the family.

The Addams Family 2 isn't much better than its predecessor, but with lowered expectations it is a passable 90 minutes. Again the film lacks originality, opting to merge elements of The Incredibles with a climactic kaiju battle. Most of the "funny" moments don't land, though the film is largely inoffensive. If you can ignore the numerous snippets of pop songs, at best, it might buy you 90 minutes of peace as it possibly entertains your younger children.

Surely they can't be scraping the bottom already at #2 of this wonderful franchise?! Where were the laughs?! It's the Addams Family and they're killing the already dead... again!

I couldn't pay enough attention to get through the first one, so I suppose the sequel at least held my attention until Jeff Bezos' evil scientist mastermind took over the plot. I was much more interested in a road trip movie than something about being switched at birth and bigger and bigger monsters. Distinctive but uninteresting characters. Why do kids' films rely so much on boomer needle drops? Fav scene: seeing the inside of that great camper for the first time.

I think kids could like it, even if most of the humour is about quick visual gags. The CGI on everything but the characters was good.

Couldn't even make it through the entire thing...literally no redeeming qualities to this movie.

Well, this succeeded in being less interesting and more annoying than the previous film, and that's an impressive feat.

TAF2 lacks the originality of the first film, but keeps much of its charm. There are some really fun moments but overall it feels too much like a generic road trip movie for kids.

Just when you thought it couldn't be any worse than the first animated film.
