A mediocre but cute romance full of San Francisco shots, libraries, and King Charles Spaniels. It doubles as an immortality tale, and TRIPLES as a comedy about an awkward meet-the-parents weekend where the protagonist finds out she fucked her boyfriend's dad. The narrator from Amelie drunkenly wandered on set once or twice.

I actually liked it! It's predictable and the romance blows but that's alright, my sole interest was in the themes of immortality which I have a soft spot for. It's certainly nothing extraordinary, but I was quite charmed by it. Blake Lively was endearing and carried the film wonderfully with grace and elegance.

Although the idea is not unique, wasn't as bad as I expected. I really enjoyed Harrison Ford's performance.

Decent sappy romance flick with an intriguing but ultimately silly concept. It coasts by on its strong, emotional acting from Blake Lively, Harrison Ford and Ellen Burstyn. It falls into absurdity by the end, but I enjoyed the romance.

As nicely shot and directed this film is, and as good as Lively is in the lead, I can't help but feel that the setup is a lot more interesting than the story they choose to tell, which for the most part concerns a rich and somewhat stalkery guy trying to convince a woman to let herself love him. Complete with an ending that just jumps up and down and yells "See? It's a METAPHOR!" Yes, very clever, now pat yourself on the back for ensuring nobody will fund a movie that actually USES this idea.

On the positive side, that means it's at times both introspective and visually impressive. While looking back through history and musing over the idea of perpetual youth and everlasting beauty, the film suggests that such a fantastic existence would likely be a lonely one, creating an environment in which there would be no chance of experiencing the relational oomph of growing old with someone you dearly loved. Not enough happens to keep this from occasionally being bland, which is a shame because this kind of concept always gets me. It should have made me feel more than it did but I don't blame Lively for that. I'm not a big fan of her but she did a good job. It just wasn't a very exciting movie though it gets significantly better once Ford shows up and complicates everything.

There's something evidently odd in the way this is directed and in its tone. It's clearly aimed to play as a tale, an allegory, but at the same time everything is staged so obviously and "seriously" that the film ultimately misses the point.

The Age of Adaline isn't a horrible movie, and Blake Lively is really good, but the romance doesn't really work and it's not not particularly enjoyable. Unless you're a fan of unchallenging romance films or Blake Lively, The Age of Adaline isn't even worth a rental.

"Honey, I know more racist remarks then you could possibly imagine." If something isn't happening in slow motion it's being explained to you through a narrator who thinks you haven't seen anything ever before. (Just a heads up, a cute dog dies and there's a putting the dog down scene I LIKE TO BE WARNED ABOUT THESE THINGS AND YOU DO TO)

Inoffensive, but predictable romance, with a pinch of science fiction thrown in for flavour. Blake Lively sparkles, and I could have sworn they'd CGI'd the hell out of Harrison Ford to make his younger self, but apparently it's just a time shifted doppelgänger called Anthony Ingruber.

The Age of Adaline has the feel of a tall tale that's been passed down through the generations. It's a gentle story that isn't mined for any deep meaning, but it's soft and sweet and made better by a haunted lead performance from Blake Lively.

The premise is intriguing and so is the central character, but unfortunately it plays out like a typical love story with no real game changing or heart wrenching moments. It provides solid acting and a good resume piece for all the actors involved and that is about it.

This movie never fails not to entertain. From the obtrusive voice over narration that treats you like an imbecile to what could have been an interesting plot reduced to a mere gimmick. Reminds me of another rom-com from 2 years ago "About Time" which was gimmicky but much more enjoyable. This was 112 humour-free minutes like every other boy-meets-girl, boy-falls-in-love-with-girl, boy-can't-be-with-girl, never-mind-everything's-fixed crap you've seen a million times!

Every romance flick you've ever seen, but with a bizarre sci-fi twist that adds nothing but unintentional humour. However, the film is saved from being a complete failure by an utterly captivating Lively & a surprisingly good Ford.

Man, I don't know how to rank this. This thing is just not meant for someone like me. 'Twas interesting seeing Harrison Ford in a non-genre or action pic, though, I'll say that. Last time I saw him in such a role you'd probably have to go back to "Working Girl". He definitely seems to "care" more about his performance in this type of movie, even if he really shouldn't bother.

There's potential for an interesting movie hidden in the concept here. Fortunately for people who can't stand any level of challenge, The Age of Adaline evades all those opportunities with uncanny precision, and decides to go with the blandest possible story and execution. It's overly safe, it's painfully transparent in its every move, and Harrison Ford is in it for no reason. I want to say that nobody should see this, but it seems that already, nobody gives a shit about this movie. So... yay?

Blake Lively's aloof preformance carries this movie with her beauty and charismatic grace & poise. The story is weak. There is not much action or excitement. Everything about the voice over was stupid, as was the premise. It's worth watching if only for Lively's performance. Harrison Ford did his best with the material. Michiel Huisman was not bad, but the love story was confused. Overall, this slightly disappoints, but bits and pieces were enchanting.

This movie is quite the mixed bag! You've got great acting, a fascinating premise about timelessness explained by a voice over that sounds out of place most of the time, and this magical story somehow turns into a weird vaudeville with it's mandatory happy end. But what stayed with me at the end of the movie was it's beautiful photography, the subtle camera work, and Blake Lively's graceful and touching performance.

The Age of Adaline is mostly dull with glimmers of magic - the film starts and ends on a high note. It tries to be clever but generally fails with a strange but predictable twist. Harrison Ford is only there for the paycheque and lets Blake Lively outshine him with her superb performance. The Age of Adaline will please suckers for romance movies but I don't think it has a further appeal to anyone else. Love is timeless - you'll be checking the time a lot throughout this one.

I could feel myself aging during this film. It just felt a little too long. I also think they put a few things in this to just make it sad for no reason. I do like Blake Lively and she is very pretty in this film, very classy. Harrison Ford was a huge surprise as I didn't know he was in this when I started the movie. The subject matter of this film is very enthralling but it doesn't go anywhere all that interesting...

Has the sheen and chic of which a preppy's wet dream is made. What saves it as drama is the melancholy of the burden of time, evoked in the actors' faces, celebrated in the film's measured movement. The last image draws a parallel between love and a burning comet, so you better believe that they mean their romance.

There is so many other directions they could have taken this great idea, but they took the soft approach making it a sweet romance instead of adding suspense and other psychological aspects to that of a 107 year old staying 29 forever. Regardless of what it could have been, Blake Lively makes it what it is....

What a beautiful, thought-provoking and calm movie. It's one of those that makes you think about time, love and life. The ending was a bit too cheesy and perfect but I guess that's just what this movie needed. The cinematography is very beautiful. Blake Lively's performance is stunning and surprisingly good. I didn't know she had it in her. Really great movie, I enjoyed every minute of it.

The Age Of Adeline is compelling, but I do have to admit that the story is weak. I feel like they try to hide the fact that the entire movie is based on the unrealistic idea that there is such a thing as an everlasting life. But the acting is good and somehow I thought Lively worked for this role. So for a comfy evening; sit back and enjoy. 57/100.

I was a bit dissapointed. Not so much because I expected a whole lot, but because they never found a balance between using what they had, and overdoing it on other parts. Lively had a good performance if you overlook the fact that she is supposed to be about 100 years old - not possible, which probably doomed this movie beforehand. Forget the weak story and try to block out the voiceover, and you might enjoy a simple lovestory. *Okay

Lovely film with its heart in the right place. My main grip is that the chemistry between the two protagonists is nothing compared to the smoldering chemistry between the protagonist and a secondary character. That threatens to undermine a narrative that expects us to root for the two leads. Other than that, a fine film that touched me emotionally several times.

Kinda wish it had been more about her history and how she evolved throughout time, than her present day love interest (which by the end seemed meaningless and shallow).

The narration that bookends the film gives it a cozy, fairy-tale feel (although the science is a bit much) with Adaline-an ancient woman in a young body, played to refined perfection by Lively-a fitting protagonist: Eternally beautiful and wise, yet sad and lonely. The logistics of her long life are breezed over, but the relational implications are richly explored, most notably in the striking third act as her secret is revealed to both a past and a present lover in a whirlwind of emotions.

This is a decidedly cheesy, sentimental film, however I quite enjoyed it for the performances and the main plot concept is relatively intriguing. Sometimes there's nothing wrong with a little cheesy sentimentality. It's not overly excessive and as a drama it's ok, borderline gripping on ocassion and with just enough back story to keep me watching. The scientific context provided does give it a somewhat believable feel, though I still can't say it isn't a bit cheesy at times.
