I learned nothing new from this heavy handed message movie, but I did pick up a few insights about the future: Downsides: The world will be in utter ruin and we will not succeed in our continuing fight to eliminate shoddy CGI. Upsides: We'll still have internet and cool touch screens. Also, we'll find a way to revive Pete Postlethwaite!

Extremely shocking. I hope we can stay on this planet longer than 100 years and make some strict laws or else it will be a big disaster.

Mediocre. The characters in this film are depicted so unbelievable that I even have trouble believing the entire world problem.

It's shocking, melodramatic, emotionally blackmailing and proudly polemic. And as someone who has worked in the field of climate science and policy for the last 4 years, absolutely terrifying and more than a little soul destroying. Seeing how little has changed in terms of our world view, economy, and continued reliance on oil in the four years since this was made makes me want to start stockpiling canned goods and building a cabin somewhere in Scotland. Arresting.

This film is reflecting the general state of mind - you don't even have to hide any more that what you say are not arguments, but fiction. People will call it documentary and incorporate it into their "thinking" and even more to their actions. Let's just hope, that the saying: "If you repeat a lie long enough, people will start to believe in it" is just a lie.

"Communicates something of the massive global impact of our careless, though officially encouraged, consumption, even if Armstrong's outsized ambitions threaten to dissipate some of the movie's force." - Andrew Schenker

In short The Age of Stupid is a film which fails to show any emotional or political intelligence. It's dumb, it's pandering and, overall, archly pointless. Rather than preaching to the converted, Posselthwaite spends most of the movie shouting over their heads to the idiots who don't deserve to hear him. It's a peculiar approach and, if this film is trying to save the world, a stupid one.
