Some questionable fact and myth making here about the events surrounding the Alamo. It purports to be a true story but things are completely whitewashed by Hollywood. This isn't Pearl Harbor levels of bad but it is rather distasteful in a lot of ways as well as being just a plain boring film.

Trying to ride American Patriotism bandwagon in order to sell this retelling of the events of the Alamo. Certain historical facts, such as the letting women and children go, are intentionally omitted to make the Mexican army seem unbelievably evil and thus the Americans more heroic. Eye rolling bad.

Succeeds in making history as dull as my 8th-grade Texas history class.

Visually very nice and the acting is not bad, but the all American patriotism and the racism just pisses me off.

a decent re-creation and re-do of the siege at the mission not so dated as the john wayne version 1960 which I also liked.

So-so film with good performances and a slow pace that climaxes with an exciting battle.

"The Alamo is further, sobering proof that every dog(gerel) has its day and every generation gets the movie it deserves." - Keith Uhlich

None of this warts-and-all storytelling detracts from the men's heroism in battle. Rather than being plaster saints, they're real, believable characters. If parents of older teens are willing to navigate some of the violence, The Alamo can serve as a fine discussion-starter about flawed humanity, bravery in battle, the courage of one's convictions and the fruits of arrogance and folly.
