The Alpinist

One of the interviewees states that this kind of climbing has killed about half of the top participants: one might hold a variety of perspectives about this, but that number is awfully high. While the filmmaker describes filming Leclerc as terrifying, and says he has been reflecting for years on the questions raised by this level of danger, there is little evidence here that any of those reflections have affected in any significant way his desire to idolise and document the biggest risk-takers.

The more I think about this movie the less I like it

Honoring a life well lived.

Documentary about an interesting elusive dude, or snuff movie asking how far mountaineers should push before we stop glorifying the risks they take? You decide. I know I made up my mind. Rest well, Marc-André.

I'm not sure this movie should exist.
