The Amazing Adventure

You could watch this to see the quite youthful Grant, with his thick, black hair. I'd say he's dashing as always, but honestly I prefer him as he hit his stride and changed his hair a few years later, and even in his older, silver fox years. He's not fully into his Cary Grant persona in Ernest Bliss -- there's no fast-paced screwball dialogue to be found -- though that doesn't mean he's not a joy to watch. To wrap this up and get to the point: For Cary Grant completionists only.

Got coldly betrayed by the title.

Cary Grant make a short visits home to England to make a independent movie. The film is a cliché from start to finish, but it's got Cary Grant so it's good. A rich man is challenged to live like a normal/poor man and not allowed to touch his fortune for a year. So he accepts and finds out how hard it is to get a job, he falls for a common girl (Mary Brian) and he learns his lesson about money. Well, not really. He still lives large and throws cash around after the year is up.

Terrible video and audio quality and the story is more than a little trite. Cary Grant is a rich man suffering from too little to do. He makes a wager with his doctor that he can live a year devoid of his riches. He fails to avoid using his money, although not for his own benefit. He turns out to be a generous person helping those he likes and punishing those he doesn't. There is nothing particularly amazing or convincing about the story and it relies too heavily on the charisma of Cary Grant.

Old fashioned black and white afternoon viewing. A little dull but short and watchable.

Now here is a problem most people would love to have. But this is a story that was done before this movie came out and hundreds of times afterwards as well. And just like the movie before it and all the movies afterwards, it is still the smake predictable movie. But Cary Grant has a way of drawing in the audience and keeping them. He has an "it" factor and he is one of my favorite actors of that era. Had its funny moments and is pretty watchable. The movie is too short for this kind of stor
