I enjoyed the directing and use of split screen. Aside from that there’s not much here, and very little to warrant the film’s length, and it could’ve been trimmed at least fifteen minutes. Not particularly impressed with Arthur Hill’s one note performance either.

Em honra de Paula Kelly (1943 - 2020). Estruturalmente este filme me lembrou Chernobyl, não sei se narrativamente a minissérie teve uma influência consciente deste filme, mas a tensão, especialmente na meia hora inicial, é muito similar a ponto de me parecer heresia negá-la. Ou seja, estou falando das similaridades justamente para exaltar a excelência de ambas as produções. BlurayRip RARBG.

Love the retro computers and labs. Takes place completely on earth but feels like the inside of a ship/base from 2001 or Star Wars. The world almost ended because of a paper jam. Fav scene: tedious decontamination sequences.

işleyişin bizatihi kendisine odaklanan anlatılar, kendi içlerinde tutarlı olmayı başardıkları ölçüde ve elbette ne yaptığını bilen bir yönetimle hayli sürükleyici anlatılara dönüşüyorlar. hikayenin ilgilendiği felsefi boyut arka planda hiç eksilmezken filmin değinip anlatabileceğinden fazlasına kalkışmaması ve bir kullanıcının çok güzel tespit ettiği hanlon's razor'a odaklanması ortaya incelikli, harika bir film çıkarıyor.

Sci-fi so hard it would scratch diamond. I loved Crichton's novel when I read it ~10 years ago so perhaps I'm a little biased with my rating. Since the production design is so obviously dated and you can only fit so much expository science dialogue into two hours, I don't think the film quite captures the sense of real plausiblity that (from what I remember) the novel had. If you're a fan of very slow, exceptionally procedural films you'll enjoy. If you're not - avoid like the alien plague.

On (1) the elaborate character of modern technical systems; (2) the way in which the complexity of such systems can also lead to fragility; (3) the way such systems can lead human beings into rationalisation in the Weberian/Adornian sense of disenchanted calculative thinking; (4) the way they can serve irrational ends, covered over by rationalisations in the psychological sense. The commitment to pursuing just these four questions is impressive and refreshing. Best character is Reid's scientist.
