The difference between this movie and The Room is that James Franco is a much better director and far more handsome than Tommy Wiseau. Not that these are high-minded compliments, of course. Still, this movie is funny on occasion, and after seeing Franco's not good but not so bad As I Lay Dying, it's nice to know his directing skills have improved, so he might not be completely inept. Either way, The Ape is bad.
