The Ardennes

The relationship between both brothers makes for a compelling dichotomy. Between those who think with their head and those who act with their heart. Between those selfish enough to do away with the past and those who have to drag it with them like a ball and chain. While the ride from start to finish is a bumpy one at times, it makes up for it with a sense of unapologetic perversion and pulse-pounding dynamism.

As a crime movie the story is practically vegetarian because it doesn't provide nearly enough meat to chew on; it's more interesting as a portrait of these two fuck-up low-life criminal brothers and their relentlessly poor life choices. Tense third act, moody setting.

An extraordinary debut, remarkable for its great cinematography and impressive performances, with a handful of memorable shots and sequences. The contrast between the first and the last act is what makes it stand out. Starts of as a cold and depressing drama which abruptly develops a grotesque, almost nigthmarish and violent finale. Both parts deserve credit on its own, but those last 20 minutes really had me on the edge of my seat.

A slow paced Thriller if it can be that kind of Thrillers but with quality.

A belgium crime drama that tries too hard to be a like to american crime drama without succeeding in it. You have seen this film before but done better elsewhere.

Regardless of it's one-dimensional characters, I found it thrilling in it's straight forward nature. Add a few wacky guys and crazy twists and you got a entertaining couple of murderous brothers.
