Uneven as hell. Really good parts and really stupid parts.

Retired/reformed thief (Snake Plisken) agrees to get his band of one-dimensional role-players (Son, Muscles, Brains, Fingers, Legs, etc.) back together for one last heist. (In grizzly TV commercial voice) But who can you trust when the person you trust most is a person you may not be able to mostly trust!?!?

The Art of the Steal is a caper film that does nothing special, but it's moderately entertaining and funnier than these movies generally are. If you like the genre and aren't tired by its clichés and tropes, you'll likely have a good time with this film. It has actors who are game and fun to watch, a needlessly complicated plot, and a lot of laughs scattered throughout. And it's Canadian, for what that's worth. There's nothing of substance to it, but that kind of movie is sometimes worth seeing.

A art of trolling by T. Stamp made it worth of my time.

It definitely has an "Ocean's" vibe, but the characters are not that interesting. I had some great laughs, and was somewhat surprised with the ending. Good fun. - Okay

A decent easy to watch film. Doesn't take itself too seriously and the actors know it.

A very light, small-scale Ocean's 11 premise with a decent cast - nothing memorable, plus the plot is overly complicated, and the ending (while fun) isn't really earned. At less than 90 minutes, this is an easy watch with a few good laughs. To see Kurt Russell in any film these days is a treat.

I probably would have rated it higher if it was some straight-to-DVD heist flick released right after Ocean's Eleven (why would I watch something like that is another question). Good thing it is so faithful to heist movie formula, or I wouldn't had understood what's going on. It is so poorly made, that for a long time I thought it's intentional and ironic in some unexpected way.

Not great. But I had paperwork to do, and it entertained me while I worked.

Super cast, typical story. Not a bad caper film. Worth a peek.

Pretty shit but not overly annoying. Other things I learned are that Katheryn Winnick looks a lot like Scarlett Johansson and Kurt Russell is *old*

Hey look a heist movie, I like those. Watching it . . . oh it's a comedy crime caper, I don't like those, and not a good one at that

There's good humour here, but the editing feels like a cheap Ocean's knock-off, the cast's charisma and chemistry is inconsistent (Dillon is good and Baruchel does his job as comic relief, but Welsh is annoying, "Lola" inconsequential, and Russell overacts), the heists, while fun, are too brief, and the final twist has unconvincing build-up, is revealed much too quickly to revel in, and is anti-climatic to boot. There's enough here to keep a caper film fan interested, but not enough to satisfy.

Finally a modern film that doesn't pander to a pre-pubescent, moronic audience that is more inclined to get excited about the pop radio soundtrack and CGI explosions than any kind of plotting or characterizations. Now could someone just explain the ending to me please?

This film takes a familiar theme of a big heist and does not do really anything new with the premise. The cast does a good job but they can not make up for an average script. Overall this film is disappointing.

The Art of the Steal is a derivative film both in its narrative and direction (think Ocean’s 11 emulated in Guy Ritchie style). Luckily the script is funny enough to carry the film. The cast is good, pitching their characters at a level where they don’t take everything too seriously nor play everything as a joke; and in the best way possible, don’t have the egos that an all A-list (i.e. younger) cast might have. Predicable, but entertaining enough.
