The movie is all dumb luck, horror characters that aren't totally typical, and whacky humor and jokes that consistently hit. Oh and fabulous gore. There's a joyful spirit to this movie about Satan worshippers trying to kill 12 year olds, just plain happy fun!

Despite the attempt to look like a work of a schizophrenic from YouTube, this movie is still boring. I've seen worse, though, but none of them gave a teenage boy in front of a screen a blowjob deeper than the Babysitter did.

It's a children-in-peril horror comedy in 2017. I'd give it high marks, but lessbehonest*hiccup* mining the 80s isn't exactly daring after Stranger Things won the Southeast Nebraska Regional Film Society award for best television series. It's The Lost Boys without vampires.

Starring the girl from Suicide Squad who not actually in the Suicide Squad, the Babysitter is an off-rails coming-of-age Home Alone with a dash of Satan worshipping and lots of blood. It requires approximately 17 brain cells to watch, and though all will die in the process, the rest of the cells will probably not be in a position to complain overmuch. Tl;dr: it's directed by McG.

Straight from a 13 year old boys wet dream. Samara Weaving is stunning and the campy 80's horror/comedy elements are done well. Sure there are some unbelievable just for convenience's sake plot elements, but what's a horror movie without some stupid and/or unbelievable (of course relatively speaking) parts anyways. If nothing else the fast pacing makes it very easy to watch.

It's more than a little silly but goddamn is it enjoyable. Do I think that this could have benefited from some more tonal consistency? Sure, but it does a really good job of just pulling you along for a fun ride. The acting is silly in its campiness and McG has some fun direction. It's a blessing that this doesn't take itself too seriously and just becomes a fun gorefest.

THE BABYSITTER squanders a terrific premise through an obsessive, desperate need to impress. Even for a teen slasher flick, it's staggeringly devoid of substance. What charisma it does possess (generally in the form of mordantly funny deaths) is drained away by its glib attempts at cheekiness, not to mention its shallow, cliche-ridden stabs at romance. Quite ok but could be a lot better with better directing and better screenplay. Little boy is great and the babysitter little overact but still is quite ok. Her entourage though was pretty dreadfull apart from Bella Thorne.

It's the kind of superficial horror/comedy that is undeniably entertaining to the masses, but unfashionable to openly enjoy. "The Babysitter" may be a little disposable, but it's wholly fun and may end up garnering a more loyal following in the long run.

The Babysitter is as basic as they come for a movie synopsis, and like most movies like it, it's doesn't do anything too suprising, but unlike many other movies, benefits from a solid scrip with a fair share of good jokes, good lead actors, pretty good affects, and a quick pace to make an entertaining watch. The Babysitter knows exactly what it is, and does that decently well for the most part, and while you won't remember it a couple months down the road, they're worse ways to burn time
