I think dumb comedies give me Stockholm syndrome--somehow I kinda like them near the end. Young(er) Michael Caine was a neat character, and the pay-off to the tattoo bit both made me laugh and took the film in a completely new direction, so kudos for that. Tons of misses, but a bit of funny in a inappropriately nice(ly shot) setting. Apropos nothing, I literally never heard "in loco parentis" before hearing Bruce Dickinson said it yesterday, so for that to be a punchline(?) here was really odd.

If you enjoyed the TV series then you'll probably like the movie (though it's a stand-alone rather than a continuation). By no means is it a good film (technically), but it is immensely juvenile, raunchy, ridiculous, debaucherous...and above all fun. Alfie (Whitehall) teabags a swan...that scene pretty much sums up the film.

Never seen the show, but it's clear it's about an all-out juvenile ass-class. Didn't annoy me actually, but it also didn't make me laugh all that much. It's just too out there to make the shit they do hilarious.
