The Balloonatic

One of Keaton's weaker shorts still has some amusing moments (mostly during the carnival opening) and the abrupt switch to the nature setting half way through feels forced. Still enough vintage Keaton moments to be worth a look.

The first 5 minutes at the carnival are really funny, the rest is merely ok.

Full of random gags most of which were great.

it's a fairly enjoyable short with a few memorable gags and one or two of those touching moments that make that great stoneface persona of keaton's such a lasting one. keaton's put out better shorts, but this one is a must for any fan.

Most of Buster's movies are boring but this one has a good sight gag at the end

One of those Keaton shorts where it feels like he's just cramming in a bunch of quick gag ideas on different themes that he didn't want to build a whole reel or two around. As is often the case in his lesser shorts, the best moment is the very end; I guess he saw the value in going out on a high note.

the setup is laborious and nonsensical at times but it's all worth it for that unexpectedly romantic expressionist payoff.

So much of his stuff seems random and pointless before getting down to some sort of story, if ever. Good for Buster Keaton fans, but most people won't miss much by passing up on this one.

Keaton battles nature. Not that great, but it's still got a handful of very good gags (loved Keaton bashing the bear on the head with the butt of his gun and inadvertently shooting another one in the face through his legs) and it's pleasant enough. Hard not to enjoy a Keaton two-reeler at least somewhat.

Eh, it has a few moments, particularly the ending, but otherwise this Keaton short just barely gets by.

Clearly a setup for "whatever floats your boat." Hooray for no police chases! Like the rest of these shorts, there are some great moments (the bears) and some that didn't really work (the bull).

Disjointed and certainly not one of Keaton's better works, but some of the gags are absolutely wonderful.

My favorite Keaton. The end is so joyful that it makes up for any disjointedness in some of the other gags.
