The Beast Stalker

I generally enjoy Dante Lam's films and I was happy to finally sit down and watch this. But I was surprised by how cheap and TVB this looked, the direction and camerawork also felt very sloppy. The overall movie was decent enough but I couldn't rate it high because half the time I had trouble making out what was happening during the action scenes.

Entertaining & inventive Hong Kong cop thriller. There are lots of positives here, ranging from the solid performances (Zhang Jingchu & Wong Suet-yin as mother & daughter particuarly stand out) & the storyline is a compelling one. It presents itself well too, using flashbacks well, having plenty of very pretty lighting & camerawork, & at times managing to be genuinely powerful. To be critical, there is some heavy handed melodrama & the plotting structure is a bit uneven. But overall recommeded.
