The Beautiful Blonde from Bashful Bend

Catchy tune and pretty women in tight outfits but annoying side characters and not much depth to an otherwise funny premise. All the goodwill from the first act is quickly lost once Grable settles in the new town. Fav scene: going through the schoolteacher's belongings with the prettier Olga San Juan on the train.

Pretty disappointing from Sturges. I wonder if this because of studio meddling, or whether he actually had lost it at this point in his career.

I'm afraid the ol' Sturges magic just ain't here.

I love over-the-top colorful farces like this, but they turned the characters of "brothers" Sterling Holloway & Danny Jackson WAY UP HIGH, to the point they almost ruined the movie completely. I decided to try and ignore them the best I could and adore the rest. For visually this was as colorful as Betty Grable gets!
