Now that's the Jost I love. I don't love the end so it won't be my fav of his.

more of a legit carver approximation than its contemporary SHORT CUTS, while also invoking everything from TWIN PEAKS to 'a small turn of human kindness'. a stripped down log of blue-collar americana on grace and truth, or the absence thereof, which gets into the bones and weighs on the spirit. trees piled high for profit, a rose bush shot through a wire fence, a fisherman's paradise that probably hides a body or two if you look closely enough. jost is so soothing until he's terrifying.

Disappointing. Could have been a lot stronger. Jost's over-reliance on minutes-long, unremarkable and meaningless intercuts is starting to get on my nerves. There is really no cause for a movie containing relatively little (if potentially moving) substance to take two hours of my time, just so you can use all your filler, Jost. Cut the blubber, shoot some more real scenes and try me then. Also, the ending is gratuitous -- especially since it rehashes all your earlier feature endings.
