Budget 'Arrival'. That whole process where you suspend your disbelief just enough to enjoy the contents just never happened here, so you end up with 1.5 hours of stock footage and actors regurgitating superficial dialogue, all working up to an emotionally unaffecting non-ending. I cringed every time I heard the term 'human 2.0'.

Pros: Okay acting. Cons: Jarring shifts between documentary style and dramatic narrative. First 55 minutes add nothing and should be cut. Bad editing. No character development or any characters to care for. The camera can be shaky or too close. The technobabble is laughable. 95% of voice overs/dialogue/shots/scenes offer redundant info or are pointless. 99% of spoken lines are expository. Most time spent on plot points that never matter, like the suit. This movie always 'tells,' never 'shows.'

The Beyond was so bad that I hope there was asbestos in all the filming locations. I hope the director went blind and the writer lost their hands.

This feels like it should have been a short story. So much of this feels artificially extended and it leans hard on Scifi tropes that are no longer a surprise.

Comes across more as a translation of an SF short story into video format than as some vast science fiction epic. Scenes that in a documentary might be fascinating can easily, in a pseudo-documentary, become unconvincing filler, here with a surfeit of ponderous earnestness. Some of the ideas are moderately interesting, if not very original, but the ABYSS-type conclusion is delivered in a sermonising manner that only draws attention to its excessive familiarity. Filmmakers settled for mediocrity.

90 minutes of found footage / fict-umentary expositional talking heads interleaved with stock footage and maybe five minutes of visual effects. Not really a movie. There is some Robocop 2014 style body horror that is more interesting, and the black floating ink blobs also. I made it through this because I had a second screen to do something else with and looked up occasionally.

Total waste of time. It builds as if it might become interesting due to all the build up, but it never does. It has a positive message, but the whole affair is an empty experience.

Interesting enough, especially in the documentary style is was filmed. Ultimately, the pace of the film hurts it as does uneven performances. Kind of par for the recent onslaught of Netflix originals as it feels like a Scyfy channel afternoon movie.

I had to turn it off after 15 minutes of skipping and perusing. I felt the other reviewers underrated it in specific ways: the acting isn't bad. Actually, these are superb b-movie actors. The problem is that the script and screenplay is just one long mockumentary that doesn't even have an interviewer or narrator. So there's a scarcity of interaction or any real social motivation. We're just watching a long hum-drum sequence of sci-fi testimonies.
