The Big Wedding

My tolerance for mediocre rom-com is far higher than most, I've found, but even I was majorly disappointed by the incongruous and tiresome combination of dramatic tedium and 'edgy' vulgarity on display here. Skip it, even if you love De Niro -- wait. *Especially* if you love De Niro.

The Big Wedding, wasn't a complete waste of time. See it for yourself, it is a lot more than cliches, and it earns its R Rating.

I didn't expect much but I was disappointed. :(

This film is timid for the most part until the movie earns a hard rated R for a scene of nudity, an under the table fondling scene a a few other random raunchy things thrown in. I like that De Niro can let his hair down in a film like this, but it also hurts his credibility since this film was on the high end of mediocre. Topher Grace's story line was definitely my favorite. I would totally hate my mom if she did that to me. A few laughs but mainly tedium is what this wedding serves.

How would someone from Columbia be familiar with Telemundo?

It's like the writers made a list of every juvenile sexual situation they thought could be milked for a laugh or two, then didn't get around to crossing anything off that list. Painfully bad writing. Diane Keaton looks ill at ease the entire time, with good reason. Susan Sarandon just goes for hammy send-up, the only sensible approach to this dreck.

Not much of a movie except for a lot of big actors

Not an amazing comedy by any means, neither is really funny but it is entertaining nonetheless. Acting was good, characters and plot was cliche but okey. If you want to watch something to spend time and can't find anything else, give it a chance. It's not as bad as people say.

Why?

Terrible. The comedy is poor and off-putting, punctuated only by misplaced and overblown melodrama. There are multiple subplots going on and they all manage to be equally uninteresting, though Topher Grace's trainwreck might take the cake.

everybody gives the score with expectation of the stars, i watch it like, criticker psi is 4 out of 100. maybe it is not 70 but not 4 at all too.

Awful ensemble 'comedy' that must've taken less time to write than I did to complete this sentence. The humour (and tinges of drama) are anger-inducingly bland and generic, making the odd risqué joke that's thrown in just feel uncomfortably out of place. Robin Williams manages to raise the only laughs in the two tiny scenes his cameo role allows, the rest of the talent is utterly wasted. My overly-generous rating reflects the fact the film is at least mercifully short.

It seemed really hard to feel an emotional connection to any character because there was simply too much to pay attention to at all times. Deniro proved he is aging and there still roles available to him and that emotion is still something he can handle. Williams was underused, both Keaton and Sarandon proved a couple of solid laughs and none of the kids really stood out as 3 dimensional. Typical rom-com with ridiculous antics that all lead to a happy ending.
