Enjoyable film with Rooney bringing the right amount of swagger and unease; terrific racing sequences (and a touching courtship between Mitchell and Byington) ultimately makes this a modest winner.

Didn't get into this racing movie much. Felt like a rehash of The Crowd Roars (1932) Too much so, with Mickey Rooney even looking like James Cagney. Does have brief scenes which were good, but for the most part I wasn't a fan.
