Nicely brisk-paced and taut, despite a few silent-movie touches (in particular, Magnani's stare was so frequently over the top that I had a tendency to break into laughter every time the camera found her face).

I guess it was a okay Italian movie with the story being about a girl witnessing her mothers murder and goes blind in the same incident, only to gain hope of seeing many years later. The acting was very stale apart from when eyes came in focus. That was the only times the visuals went anywhere meaningful. Other then that it was just shooting people as they talk with a half-interesting plot.
